So this is the modern day version of the fast and dynamic BMW 2002s! This is the 2010 BMW 1-series Coupe and Convertible coming with the firm’s new turbocharged straight-six engine which makes it fast and fun as hell. Both cars don’t feature any significant upgrade in terms of design, but who cares! as long as you have that magnificent engine and 306 hp at the disposal of your right foot!

Different editions of this 3.0 liter twin turbo inline-6 engine is used in many BMW models and there’s a very good reason for that: It’s outstanding! With BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology, High Precision Injection, and VALVETRONIC valve management, it manages to be really powerful at 306hp (255kw) and 400nm (295 lb-f) of torque.

And then thanks to a wide range of BMW EfficientDynamics technologies such as Brake Energy Regeneration, a gearshift point indicator on models with a manual gearbox, a map-controlled oil pump, final drive with optimised warm-up running qualities, as well as on-demand control of the engine’s ancillary units such as the pressure-controlled fuel pump, it becomes efficient and fairly economical considering the level of performance it delivers.

Equipped with a 7-speed double-clutch gearbox, the 2010 BMW 135i does the classic 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 5.2 seconds (5.3 convertible) and averages 8.6 liters/100 kilometers (22mpg). That kind of acceleration in this small car means nothing but exhilarating fun!

To provide this car with above the handling you expect form a BMW, they’ve gone to enormous length to make sure it drives properly. It comes standard with a tweaked differential with electronically masterminded locking function, Servotronic power steering and the gas pedal and DSC Dynamic Stability Control. It also feature the M Aerodynamics Package and M Sports Suspension.

It’s all great and promises a brilliant car, we just wish that, like the recently introduced 3-series Coupe, BMW would give this car a nose job as well!
