This is the new Peugeot 408, and before you mock it for being so ugly and disappointing we have to say that it is NOT the replacement for the good-looking 407! The 408 is in fact the sedan version of the 308 which is designed in collaboration with Chinese group DFM and unveiled at Beijing Autoshow. 407 replacement will be called the 508 and some say it’ll be based on the amazing SR1 concept.

As for this 408, well, there’s not much to say! Even Peugeot struggles to find interesting things for their press release, so they explain the car’s name! Check this out:

The figure 4 refers to the size of the car (4.68 m) and its positioning in the medium-luxury family saloon segment. The 0 in the middle signifies that it belongs to the Peugeot Marque, while the 8 expresses the vehicle generation.

Imagine explaining that to your girlfriend!

We think it’s better to patiently wait for the 508.
