McLaren Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss, Mercedes E-class W212 and the E-Class Coupe has been awarded by GOOD DESIGN Award from Chicago Athenaeum – Museum of Architecture and Design. SLR Stirling Moss is the last of the SLR Supercar breed which features an outstanding design. The new generation of E-class sedan and Coupe, which replaced the CLK, have also been recognized as truly great designs, a successful change over the previous models.
The Chicago Athenaeum – Museum of Architecture has been presenting its international GOOD DESIGN® Award for the world’s most innovative and well-designed products each year since 1950. This year the institution decided to present three Mercedes-Benz models with the GOOD DESIGN® Award – the E-Class, the E-Class Coupé and the SLR Stirling Moss.In the previous two years, the jury for the GOOD DESIGN® Award also recognised the high design quality of Mercedes-Benz automobiles by presenting the award to the GLK and the C-Class.The former curator of the Museum of Modern Art, Edgar Kaufmann Jr., founded the Chicago Athenaeum – Museum of Architecture sixty years ago, together with the major modern design pioneers Charles and Ray Eames, Russel Wright, George Nelson and Eero Saarinen.
