After Mercedes CLS, many cars tried to copy its celestial styling but failed. There’s one car however which which not only manages to be just as good-looking, it also offers much better value for money. Unfortunately though, it comes with a VW badge! We’re talking about the Passat CC which has been revised and updated recently for the British market.
The UK-special Passat CC features a new rear seat which can accommodate five people rather than four in the early models. Other nice interior equipments include the satellite navigation which now comes standard with a touchscreen Bluetooth device, 2-zone electronic climate control, a leather steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake and six airbags. The GT model also benefits from the revisions plus it gains Nappa leather interior, front and rear parking sensors and cruise control.
On the outside, you get 17-inch ‘Phoenix’ alloy wheels on normal models and 18-inch ‘Interlagos’ alloys with the GT trim level. THe GT also comes with ACC (Adaptive Chassis Control) electronically controlled pneumatic dampers and heat insulating tinted glass from the B-pillar backwards.
The existing line-up of powerful yet efficient 1.8-litre TSI, 2.0-litre TSI and 3.6-litre V6 petrol engines and 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines remain, as does the choice of six-speed manual or DSG gearboxes on selected models.
Pricing starts form £22,645 for the 1.8 model. The revised CC costs £515 more than the old model, but it’s worth it because you the extra kit you get worth well over £1,000 in the normal models and £3,000 in the GTs.
