One of the latest speculations regarding future models by Mercedes is a new small crossover, most likely to be called the GLC. Although this rendering by Autozeitung suggests that it’s a BMW X6 lookalike, but it’s in a different class  sizewise and could be a direct rival for the upcoming X4.

Sources say that the GLC will be around 4.4 meters long and will be offered with 2WD system as standard and 4WD as an option. As for the chassis and drivetrain, it makes sense for it to be based on the same platform as the current GLK and uses the same range of engines as well, but as we now Mercedes is also developing a new platform for the next generation A and B-class which will spawn a number of models including the BLS four-door coupe, and that can be a base for a crossover such as the GLC.

Then again, there are rumors about a BLK crossover as well! Let’s wait and see which one actually makes it into production. First official details should arrive in about a year when Mercedes unveils the new B-Class.
