There used to be a time when the six-cylinder BMW M3 was the ultimate affordable performance car, a true successor for the good old 22s. But the current E92 M3 with its big V8 and fancy gearbox and all the unnecessary gizmos is more suited for the rich fat dudes who can pay the car’s equally fat price tag! Do not despair though, because apparently BMW is getting things right again!
In a recent interview with German car mag Autonews, M Division boss Dr. Kay Segler confirmed that they are currently developing an entry-level M-powered Bimmer based on the 1-Series, the 135i to be exact, which will give the younger generation of drivers to live the M dream!
The details about the engine and pricing has not been confirmed yet, but the powerplant will almost certainly be based on the famous twin-turbo six-cylinder unit.
