Thanks to the most recent spyshots of the upcoming 2012 BMW 6-Series, it is now clear that the car will be based on the Gran Coupe Concept shown at the Beijing Motor Show. The Gran Coupe is a four-door coupe in the same class as the Mercedes CLS, but the 6-series, while it will look like the GC, will be a true two-door coupe coming in both hard and soft top versions.

This is actually great news because with the new 5-Series and now this, it seems that BMW is finally giving up on that crazy and really really awful design language created by Chris Bangle and going back to the old way of designing cars with BMW traditional cues in mind. So the next 6er won’t look anything like a fat sleepy bear!

We are already fantasizing about the next M6! This amazing design with a bit more sportiness, and a twin-turbo V8 will be a mouthwatering recipe.
