BMW Gran Coupe Going Into Production

Dr. Klaus Draeger, member of BMW board of management pictured above beside design director Adrian Van Hooydonk, confirmed that the Bavarian company will indeed make a production version of the Gran Coupe Concept. It was obvious that BMW can’t take it for granted and has big plans for this car. The car has great potential. Already it’s influenced a number of future models, including the next 6-series which will be revealed soon.

The production model will almost certainly feature the same styling details as the concept. BMW wants a four-door coupe to rival Mercedes CLS, which will return with a whole new model pretty soon, and the new Audi A7 which has received such a warm welcome upon its introduction.

The Gran Coupe looks utterly magnificent and it’s also very characteristic. That can be its winning card against the rivals from Stuttgart and Inglostadt.

As for the powertrain options for the Gran Coupe, it’s undecided yet but expect to see a hybrid system on the list. BMW already has a brilliant hybrid drivetrain on the market which is mighty powerful and would match with the sporty character of the Gran Coupe.

So the Gran Coupe is coming, but don’t hold your breath cuz it’s gonna take a while!
