VW is preparing an American version of the Passat specifically for the American market. They simply call it NMS for now which stands for New Mid-size Sedan and based on the new renderings they’ve released you can tell it’s designed to take on cars like Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata and Honda Accord in the American market. The car will be built at VW’s assembly plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee and hit the market in the third quarter of 2011.
