Audi released official sketches of the new Q3 compact SUV and confirmed the car’s official debut at 2011 Auto Shanghai. The Q3 is Audi’s answer to BMW X1 and Range Rover Evoque.

Well, it can take on the X1, but Evoque sounds like a tall order for this little Audi! Specially as it’s priced in the same range – 30,000 Euro – and gets the same sort of engines including two 2.0 liter diesel engines with either 140 or 170 hp and two TFSI petrol units with 160 and 210 hp.

So it comes down to looks choosing between this and Evoque, and in that terms the baby Rangie monsters the Q3.

As it’s the case with small crossovers, the Q3 too will be offered with two or four-wheel-drive (only top models) and will be fitted with fuel saving technologies like auto start/stop. The car will be built in Spain by SEAT, an will hit the market in a year or so.

Audi Q3 will also be present at the next IAA show if you can’t travel all the way to China to see it!
