Racing Driver and TV presenter Jason Plato celebrated his 61st and 62nd wins this weekend at Brand Hatch in the opening round of 2011 BTCC season. Plato is now the most prolific winner ever braking Andy Rouse’s record of 60 victories.
Now this being the first race of the season, Plato has a good chance of improving his record making it harder to achieve. Specailly as the Silverline Chevrolet team appears to be in its best shape ever! They won the first two races. The third hasn’t been good do good as the drivers started from far back of the grid. Still, there was a privateer Chevrolet Cruze on podium.
What’s heartwarming is that BTCC is once again exciting and worth watching. There’s lots of awesome overtaking, close battles, and of course lots and lots of spectacular accidents even in the warm-up lap!
Next round will be at Donington Park on Sunday April 17.
“I’m delighted,” said Jason. “To take the record number of wins is one thing, but to do so with back-to-back victories at the season opener is even better. We weren’t expecting too much at Brands as the new turbo-powered cars have an advantage on the circuit, but the Cruze’s superb handling and balance meant I could keep the momentum and ensure we could get our championship challenge off to the best start imaginable. It’s a real credit to the team at Silverline Chevrolet and RML that we took the points.”
