We already know that a incredibly hot version of the new Mercedes A Class, revealed as a concept in Shanghai, is in the works. But speculations about its specs are still an interesting debate.
Earlier reports suggested that the new A AMG will get 320 hp, but recently insiders have revealed that the car will get no less than 350 bhp. This way it stays ahead of the hot hatch curve with cars like For Focus RS. But to really have the edge over current contenders it needs a party piece, and that’s what it gets in form of a sophisticated four-wheel-drive system.
While all of the hot hatches, apart from BMW 1er which is RWD but not a hot hatch anyway, are front wheel drive, the A Class AMG will be able to make the best of its 350 bhp with a 4matic system.
The power will almost certainly come from a four-cylinder turbo engine which satisfies efficiency goals as well. This could be a game-changing car in this segment.
