A day after the first pictures of the new BMW M5 leaked onto the web, the Bavarian company released an official set of the car’s pictures and confirmed its debut at Auto Shanghai 2011.

Unfortunately not much official details have been revealed yet, just the fact that a high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo Technology generates the power output required for outstanding performance. That is the 5.5 liter Biturbo that powers the X5M and X6M as well, but in the M5 it will (probably) generate around 600 hp.

As for the design, the car looks right from every angle. I’m not saying it is very pretty, but it looks discrete and there’s no way you can tell how big of a monster it is just by looking at it. That’s the way an M5 should be, a wolf in sheep’s clothing. That’s also what the previous generation wasn’t.

With the BMW ActiveE the premium carmaker is underlining its consistent development work in the field of electric mobility within the framework of project i. The BMW ActiveE is powered by a 125 kW/170 bhp electric motor.
