Feast your eyes on the most powerful hatchback in the world, the 503 PS Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro. Except it’s just a concept. Bummer.
Prepared for this year’s edition of the annual Wörtherseetour meet, the A1 Clubsport is powered by a heavily modified version of the famous 2.5-litre five-cylinder TFSI that churns out 503PS and 660Nm of torque. It does 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds and 0-124mph in just 10.9 seconds, with a limited top speed of 155 mph or 250 km/h.
The turbocharger, intercooler, induction tract and the exhaust line are all modified for this car and its also equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and quattro permanent all-wheel drive, both taken from the TT RS and enhanced, deliver the power to all four wheels. The car weighs 1390 kg in total. It also benefits from six-piston callipers and carbon ceramic brakes, coilover suspension, and 255/30 low-profile tyres mounted on 19-inch alloy wheels.
Audi A1 Clubsport is also styled dramatically. One would imagine it’s a DTM version of the car! In fact it does inherit some cues from Audi A4 DTm, chief among which is the location of the tailpipe on the left flank, just in front of the rear wheel. The side mirrors are modeled on the Audi R8’s. The rear of the showcar is dominated by the roof spoiler, which features a double wing to provide for sufficient downforce. It also has a massive diffuser.
The interior of the showcar is a study in dark grey. Large areas are covered with exposed, matte-finished CFRP, including the walls in the rear section of the car, the tubes of the air vents and the “stern of the yacht” in the lower section of the centre console.
