The seventh generation Mercedes SL is in its final phases of testing and will be revealed soon. So let’s see what can we expect.
The first and most important thing about the next SL is of course the looks. It will be inspired to some extent by the big daddy SLS and if the new Mercedes SLK is any indication, the SL will feature a similar design only bigger and posher. We don’t really like the SLK to be honest, but the SL should be alright with its unique rear end that we’ve seen in spyshots.
The other important improvement over the current generation will be a much lighter body. Next gen SL will make use of aluminum instead of high-strength steel. That is said to result in a weight saving of nearly 200 kg, despite improved safety and added equipments.
Size-wise the car will remain roughly the same as the current model and will also feature the same amazing folding metal roof. But this being a new product, it’ll probably have a bigger boot with the roof folded, and probabaly a faster rood operation. It will almost certainly get the same Magic Sky glass roof as the new SLK as well.
