Nobuhiro ‘Monster’ Tajima managed to climb the Pikes Peak hill in 9:51.278, shattering his own record of 10min 1 second set in 2007.

The Pikes Peak veteran and his purpose-built 900-bhp Suzuki SX4 ruled ruled the hill at this year’s event, while the other opponents, also aiming for the 10-minute mark, didn’t even get close. Rhys Millen, who was the first hope of breaking the record, only managed a time of 10min 9 secs in his Red Bull Hyundai.

Tajima has been racing at Pikes Peak since 1988, so he knows the place like the back of his hand, although it keeps changing. His eleventh record-breaking win is particularly important because from next year the entire course will be on tarmac and there will be no gravel. So Tajima record will remain intact for eternity!
