If you had your heart set on the new Lancia Stratos and wanted to get one, we have bad news! Ferrari has reportedly blocked production of the car.

As you may know, the new Stratos is a one-off car designed and developed by Pininfarina based on a Ferrari 430 Scuderia, for German collector Michael Stoschek. It is built based on the owner’s specs, but when they revealed the car it caused such a stir that Pininfarina said they would make more if they receive orders. And nearly 40 customers expressed their interest in buying one.

But Ferrari, for whatever reason, decided it should remain a one-off and ordered Pininfarina now to accept any new order for the car. Apart form the fact the Pininfarina won’t disobey Ferrari, they can’t realistically use a different base car, because it means re-engineering the whole thing from scratch.

That’s said, Ferrari might change their mind. So don’t despair just yet!
