We’ve already brought to you details of the 2012 BMW 3-Series. Now let’s take look at the car’s official pictures, see what’s what.
The influence of 5-Series design is more than clear in the 3er, especially at the back. Around at the front though, the headlights seem to be inspired by the 1-Series. It’s not as bad as the 1er, but why BMW can’t just design proper headlights. They did of course with the new 5er, but then went back to the crazy way with the 1 and now the 3-Series.
On the whole, the new design seem to be a bit more exciting than the old one which was quite bland.
The new 3er is more spacious than the old one but it’s lighter which means it has to be better to drive. The car is also much more fuel efficient and will launch with two petrol and two diesel EfficientDynamics engines.
Later BMW will also launch four-wheel-drive and hybrid powertrains for the 3-Series.
The ActiveHybrid 3 will arrive at roughly the same time, and will use the powertrain recently announced for the ActiveHybrid 5. This pairs the 335i’s 306hp six-cylinder engine with an up to 40kW electric motor in a particularly intelligent and efficient way.
