Well, not all Oprah fans! But those 275 who were present at the studio the day she promised them a free 2012 Volkswagen Beetle.

True to their word, Oprah and Volkswagen are now fulfilling the promise as the first batch of the new Beetles are arriving at the dealerships. Jonathan Browning, president and CEO, Volkswagen of America, Inc., personally handed keys to the 2012 Beetle to 21 “Ultimate Favorite Things” recipients. Additional giveaway recipients were met with the sportier Beetle in 125 other Volkswagen dealerships throughout the nation.

Their Beetle is a 2.5L 6-speed automatic model and can be had in any of Denim Blue, Reflex Silver Metallic, Saturn Yellow and Tornado Red colors.

Other people who want a new Beetle are going to have to pay for it. The redesigned, better-equipped and more efficient Beetle has a base price of $18,995 for the 2.5 liter model, and $23,395 for the 2.0 liter TSI turbo engine.
