Valentino Rossi’s Tribute to Marco Simoncelli

As I’m sure you know last month Italian Moto GP rider Marco Simoncelli died in a tragic accident in the Malaysian GP. Italy’s golden boy, Marco’s friend, and fellow rider Valentino Rossi, who was also involved in that crash, decided to commemorate his mate during the Valencia race by wearing a unique helmet.

Valentino Rossi’s helmet dedicated to his friend Marco Simoncelli has a front part exactly like Simoncelli’s, with its red and white motif and ever present number 58, with the back remains the colours Rossi used throughout the 2011 season.

Try to imagine one of your best friends dying right in front of your eyes, and you get a picture of how Valentino feels about this incident.

He stated: “I really miss Sic, and I still haven’t  completely realised what happened. I thought the least I could do was dedicate my helmet to him and to his number, 58. Here in Valencia number 58 is all over the paddocks, everyone wants to remember him. Sic, this helmet is for you!”
