BMW is getting really good at making great diesel engines. They somehow found a way to extract a massive amount of power from them without compromising the excellent fuel economy. That’s why they are now putting their super-diesel engines in sports cars such as the 6-Series. The new 640d here makes 313 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque, while averaging more than 50 mpg. That means you only have to only fill it up every 800 miles or so. Oh, and it does 0 to 60mph in 5.5 seconds! Outstanding.
