Here’s the first set of speculative renderings trying to give us an early look at the new generation Mercedes SL63 AMG.
The new SL63 – likely to be called SL55 because of the new 5.5 liter V8 – will be arriving in a year or so, when the SL500 and Sl350 got their feet grounded in the market.
The artist Wildspeed has mixed styling cues of the current AMG models with the body of the 2013 Mercedes SL, and arrived at these rather magnificent images. At the front there’s the typical AMG bumper, reminiscent to that of the current SLK55, complete with LED lights and black spoiler lip. It also gets modified side skirts.
Around at the back, a subtle boot-lid spoiler, a rear diffuser and four sizable exhaust tips give the good old Merc a muscular look. As usual, the AMG version should also get smoked lights for a more aggressive look.
Details of Wildspeed’s Merc SL63 seem to be spot on. And it does indeed look better than the normal car. But we still haven’t managed to get our head round that mahoosive headlights which to be honest don’t look good at all. A facelift is needed to address the issue, and that’s not likely for at least a couple of years.
