Mercedes Benz USA has made an exclusive commercial for the new SL, to be aired during this year’s Academy Awards show.

Creating some hype for the car’s market launch in America, the ad boasts the history of Mercedes SL, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. More specifically, it features the models that have starred in a Hollywood movie or TV series.

In its long and glorious history, Mercedes SL has been in a great number of films and series. Now it’s the turn of the new boy, the 2013 Mercedes SL to continue its predecessors’ career. And that’s gonna be a bit tricky, because in fairness, this isn’t the prettiest SL ever made. It’s a multi-talented actor though. That should be enough to make up for the looks.

The new SL will go on sale in America from April, starting at $105,500 for the SL550 model.
