More details emerge on the upcoming Mercedes A25 hot-hatch, revealing that it’ll have no less than 335bhp.
Mercedes AMG clearly want to outpower the competition, namely the Audi RS3 and BMW M135i. For that the A25 will be fitted with a new AMG 2.0 liter turbocharged engine developed jointly by their British High Performance Engine (HPE) division in Northamptonshire.
The base for this powertrain in the current 2.0 liter Kompressor used widely in Mercedes saloon cars, but it’s heavily revised and benefits from high performance stuff such as gas-driven twin-scroll turbocharger and the latest in piezo-guided direct injection.
So the minimum output of this super hot hatchback will be 335bhp. That engine, after all, is developed by the guys who make Formula 1 engines, so it’s ought to be good. AMG will also put it in a number of future models, including the CLC25 AMG and CLC25 Shooting Brake AMG.
But that’s not the only factor that gives the A25 the edge over its rivals. The car will also have four-wheel-drive system to make the best of its power. Can’t wait to see how it looks.
