Here’s the convertible version of the Range Rover Evoque you’ve been waiting for, only it’s a concept car, for now.
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible first appeared on the radar a few months after the Evoque itself was announced. We didn’t hear much about it since then, until Jeremy Clarkson brought it back again on Top Gear.
Now the company resealed a few pictures of the actual car ahead of its official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
They will reveal the car as a concept to gauge the interest and then decide if they want to put it into production or not. The Evoque Convertible is apparently only 75 kg heavier than the normal model, because of the structural worked needed to make it rigid. And you have to say it does look good with the roof down.
Rang Rover didn’t release any picture of it with the roof up, and we’re guessing that’s because it’s not exactly a looker with it on. Remember the Nisaan Murano CrossCabriolet? No matter what you do, it’s going to look like a tent.
Even if the convertible Evoque gets the green light at the Geneva Show, it will still be a few years away. JLR has not done much engineering work yet. They just chopped the roof off to make this show car.
