Mercedes Benz SL63 AMG at 2013 Mercedes SL65 AMG Set For New York Debut

Looks like Mercedes is not going to dilly dally around, like car makers usually do, and wants to unveil the most high-end version of the new SL at the upcoming New York Auto Show in April. We’re talking about new Mercedes SL65 AMG. Since no plans have been announced for a Black Series, the 65 will be the top of the range model.

As you now the signature dish of any 65 AMG is the V12 engine they’re powered with, but it’s not yet confirmed that the new one will continue the tradition. The V12 might be ditched in Mercedes quest to lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Chances are the new 65 will get a revised version of the same 600+ hp engine you find in the current models. It will probably get a range of fuel saving features, including the clever cylinder shut-off system, to be tolerable for the green party.

The 2013 Mercedes SL 65 will be sold alongside the twin-turbo V8 SL 63. Prices will start at around $200K, about 50 grand more than its little brother.
