Mercedes E Class achieves another major milestone as the 500,000th unit roll off the assembly line at the Sindelfingen plant. The W212 E-Class achieves that record after only three years in produciton. That is hardly surprising, considering the E-Class is one of the most successful models in the German auto maker’s range, with total sales in excess of 10 million units.

The milestone car is an E350 4MATIC, fitted with AMG pack and finished in Arctic White. It is destined for the American market. Mercedes E Class range includes the sedan, station wagon, E coupe and E roadster, as well as the E63 AMG variants. Soon two new hybrid versions will also be added to the range.

In spite of the W212 success in its rather short time of presence in the market, Mercedes is pondering a major makeover for it, to be implemented close to 2014. The next E-Class will be lighter and more technologically advanced than the current generation, and will also feature a substantially different look.
