BMW Recalls 1.3 million 5- and 6-Series Worldwide

BMW 530 at BMW Recalls 1.3 million 5 and 6 Series Worldwide

What is happening to German quality? Yesterday we had reports that Porsche is recalling the new 911 for fuel leak problem, and now BMW issues a recall for 1.3 million units of the 5-Series and 6-Series E60 and E63 series built between 2003 and 2010. And this one too is over the risk of fire.

You should not panic though, as BMW says only 1 percent of cars they’ve checked so far are affected with the problem, which is an electrical system malfunctioning due to some incorrectly mounted battery cable inside the boot. If they let go, the vehicle will fail to start, and in some case they might ignite a fire.

From the 1.3 million recalled vehicle 109,000 vehicles are in the UK, 102,000 in China, 283,000 in Germany and 368,000 in the America. BMW will notify owners to check in with the dealers, who will then check and fix the car free of charge.

BMW says no injuries or fires have been reported yet as a result of the aforementioned fault, but they’re recalling the vehicles to make sure it won’t happen in the future.
