This innocuous-looking sketch is the official teaser Fisker released to announce a major debut they are planning for the 2012 New York Auto Show. They will be holding a special event before the New York show to preview what they refer to as “a glimpse of the future of the company.” It is believed to be the first preview of Project Nina, codename for Fisker’s new model which will join the Karma in the range.
There is not much details available yet on the Project Nina, which sounds like a sort of top-secret DARPA program. Despite the name, it is said the first outcome of Nina will be a more ordinary car than the Karma, and more affordable too. If that is the case, then Fisker is setting its sights on the Tesla Model S. It will spawn more new models based on the same platform in future.
The powertrain of the new models is expected to be the same range-extended system used in the Karma, allbeit with numerous updates and tweaks. We’ll keep you posted as the story develops.
