Nobody really expects a car maker like Morgan to go all green and electric. But for whatever reason they felt the need to make an electric car based on the Plus 8. They have an EV to show how in tune with the times they are, and how they feel responsible as a car maker to reduce their carbon footprint. We wish they felt the same thing about the styling of their cars.

The Plus E was designed and developed jointly by Moran, Zytek and Radshape. These two companies are British specialists in making electric drivetrains. The result of their collaborative efforts is a system with 160hp and 380 Nm of torque.

The most interesting fact about the Plus E should be its gearbox. Not the gearbox itself, it’s just a simple 5-speed manual, but the fact that it’s the first electric car with a manual gearbox.

The car does well in terms of performance with 0 to 100 Km/h in 6.0 seconds and a top speed of 115 mph (185 lph). But it’s the feel of the thing we’re not sure about. Driving characteristics of a an electric car, and the manual gearbox, it should be a whole new sensation!

Morgan is boldly talking about producing this car, but even if they decided to do so it won’t be anytime soon.
