2013 Mercedes Benz G at New Details on 2013 Mercedes G65 AMG

More details emerge about the new Mercedes G65, which as reported earlier will feature a V12 engine. It will be the same twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 used in the new SL65 AMG, with 620bhp and 737lb ft of torque. It will propel the G65 from 0 to 62mph in 5.2 seconds. The top speed is sadly limited to 155mph.

5.2 seconds to 60mph in this massive military truck must be quite awesome. Still, if you don’t have the heart for that, you can get the new G63 AMG, which instead of the old 6.2 liter engine, will get the new 5.5 liter Bi-turbo V8 with 536bhp. That would be a bit tamer. The seven-speed 7G-tronic gearbox will be offered across the range.

The V12-powered G-Class is completely bonkers. It is as relevant to Mercedes range and as in tune with the times as that American soldier who killed 16 civilians in Afghanistan, when they most needed public support!

Still, we’re glad there are managers at AMG who are mad enough to make a car just because it is exciting and cool, regardless of the situation.

Styling-wide, the G-Class never really changes and thank God for that. But the 2013 model will come with a couple of new touches such as ED daytime running lights and redesigned mirror housings, as well as new taillights and wheels.

The AMG versions will get more muscular bumpers, extra air ducts, different wheels, and if Mercedes remains loyal to the traditions, very cool side exhausts.
