Volkswagen announced unveiling of four design studies based on its ingenious up! city car at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

VW describes this car as a Swiss Army Knife which can be converted to serve many purposes.

That has apparently inspired the Swiss up! concept. It features the colours of the Swiss flag, with Tornado Red paintwork, white mirror housings, a white dashboard facia and red bezels around the air vents, as well as leather band across the back of each front seat.

Then there’s the Winter up! concept, with features like snowboards on the roof and cool Pure White and Malibu Blue paint, plus the raised ride height and underbody protection, along with front-wheel drive and ESP with electronic differential lock.

The next is the x up! based on the cross up!, equipped with a roof box that comes with built-in searchlights. The Burnt Orange car with two-tone interior is said to be the car for night-time expeditions.

The last one is the cargo up! concept designed for city deliveries, with a huge 1,400-litre or 426kg payload. It features underbody protection and a raised ride height, plus bulkhead with the upper half made from Plexiglas that separates cargo from driver and passenger.
