Mercedes-Benz U.S. releases the first pictures of the new 2013 G63 AMG. Before this we’ve only been given the pictures of the normal G-Class facelifted for 2013, which gets a new grille, some LED lights and new side mirrors. The G63 AMG comes with more changes, essentially putting on a new face to look more serious ad sporty. It also gets AMG’s 20-inch wheels also featured on the ML63.
The main change in the new AMG-powered G-Class is the front bumper, which with three big air intakes is not what you call pretty. But then the G-Class is not supposed to be pretty. It’s a tough military-bred vehicle, and wide new mouth gives it the looks of a commander shouting at his soldiers. Hooah!
The new Mercedes G63 AMG also gets a bolder front grille and the LED lights that you find on all models across the range. New side steps and fender flares are also included. Mercifully, the car maintains its SLR-style side exhausts, which are actually bad for off-roading, but very cool to look at. They also let you hear the exhaust noise in the cabin more clearly.
And you will be hearing the engine. The new car is called the G63 instead of G55, but weirdly it gets the 5.5 liter Biturbo V8 instead of the 6.3 liter NA V8. It’s a great engine though, and in this car makes 544 PS and 760 Nm of torque. You need more, you should wait for the new G65 AMG. That one gets a 612 PS V12 engine with 1000 Nm of torque.
The new G-Class also gets a revamped interior featuring new steering wheel, dials and switches, as well as a new TFT screen for the COMMAND system. In AMG version you get carbon fiber trims and unique leather upholstery.
2013 Mercedes G63 AMG costs 137,504 Euro in Europe. So in America it will set you back something like $180,000.
I found the new G63 look wired .! I have the G55 myself was excited the new G63 come out but rather disappointed with the ” New Facelift” they should never give any ” Facelift” to the G-Class
