Looks like this time someone from inside Daimler HQ has confirmed production of the long-rumored baby SLS, the Mercedes SLC. The guy in question is the head designer Gorden Wagener. While the SLS is a big, expensive, shouty, angry, thirsty, super car, the SLC will be tamer, kinda day to day GT car, and it’ll be more reasonably priced.
Poised to be a rival for Porsche 911, the SLC is expected to get a new 4.0-liter V8 engine with no less than 500 hp. Yes, that’s a lot more than what the 911 offers, but the Mercedes is going to be heavier. It might be a baby SLS, but it’s still a Merc. That said, reports also suggest Mercedes will offer a V6 engine as well – probably the same 300hp unit found in the new SLK350.
Not much is known about the design of the SLC, other than it will be a two-door grand tourer with a short trunk and long bonnet. It’s not likely for it to get gullwing doors though. The car has a projected price of around €80,000.
