The new platform Mercedes is using for the latest versions of the A and B-Class has been in development for many years. So they are going to make as many models as possible based on it to make up for the money they spend developing it. One of the most anticipated models is the new baby-CLS, a small four-door coupe, called the CLA. A concept version of this car will be revealed at the Beijing Auto Show.
The design of the CLA will be heavily inspired by the new A-Class, which is good. What might not be so good is the space at the back. Given the fact it has pretty much the same wheelbase as the hatchback A-Class, and taking into account the curvatious roof, it won’t be what you call roomy. But hey, it’s a coupe after all.
Mercedes CLA is slated for production by the end of 2012, and is expected to get a range of four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines. The car will have a base price of around € 28,000.
