Along with the new generation Viper, SRT also revealed the racing version of it at the New York Auto Show. The Viper has a long and glorious racing career in different endurance series around the world, and the new model is all set to continue that success. It will compete in the production-based GT class in the series.

The Viper GTS-R racer is an awesome-looking machine, mean and aggressive, even more than the standard Viper. It will also be powered by the same 8.4 liter V10 engine, but whereas the production car makes 640hp, this one will probably be limited to 600 to comply with GT racing regulations. The car also features new Michelin GT tires.

Four drivers currently are signed to drive the car in the American Le Mans Series, including Dominik Farnbacher, from Ansbach, Germany; Marc Goossens from Geel, Belgium; Ryan Hunter-Reay from Dallas and Kuno Wittmer from Montreal.
