Lamborghini Aventador Roadster To Get Removable Hardtop?

If the words of the Italian magazine Quattroruote are to believed, the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster will not be a soft-top, but a targa. It will have a removable roof like a Corvette. Lamborghini has learned its lesson with the Murcielgao roadster then. That had a roof that needed an hour to erect, and when it was up it looked rubbish. The new system will keep the weight down, make things simpler.

Other advantage of this kind of roof is that the design remains virtually intact, especially the glass engine cover. On the downside, the car looks just like the hardtop with the roof closed, and it doesn’t look as dramatic as you’d expect from a drop-top Lambo with it removed.

The Aventador must be the first Lamborghini – well, apart from the Gallardo, but that’s a baby Lambo – in which practicality and convenience have been given a greater priority than character and drama. It’s nice, makes the car more useable, but it also makes the Aventa feel like just another super car and not a proper Lamborghini. We’re just nitpicking here!

According to the Italian magazine, the carbon fiber roof splits in two parts so you can put it up or remove it more easily. One would imagine Lambo has thought of some sort of storage, either under the bonnet or behind the seats, for the roof.
