Evo just released this video of the new Mercedes G63 AMG start up and acceleration noise as a teaser for a full video review they have in the pipeline. That 5.5 liter biturbo V8 sure does sound dirty enough to get our engine revving. That awesome noise is paired with 400 kW (544 hp) and the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission to create one of the fastest and most exciting SUVs in the world.

So, has this over the top package worked for the big G? Well I guess we have to wait for the actual review to see learn about that.

What is slightly odd about the G63 is actually its name. The old one was called the G55 because it had the 5.5 liter supercharged V8. Then the 63 name appeared with the 6.2 liter engine AMG introduced in most of its cars, and now that they’re back at 5.5 liter again, the 63 name still remains. It is especially odd for the G63 because it never had a 6.2 engine!
