Here’s some footage of the new Peugeot 208 Rs Rally car, the first of a trio of racing 208s that will join the lineup over the next months. The R2 is offered as either a package or as a complete car. If you get at as bits and pieces, it’ll cost €37.500, but you have to buy a 208 too. If you get the ready-made car, that’ll be €57.500. That sounds like a lot for a 208, but it’s one of the cheapest rally cars with which you can enter professional championships.
Based on Group R regulations, the 208 R2 is powered by a 185bhp 1.6 liter engine, and benefits from a full roll cage, sports seats and a stripped-out cabin. The R2 i 40 kg lighter than the standard car.
Technically, the R2 features three-way adjustable dampers, plus a new, bespoke adjustable hydraulic bump, hydraulic steering system, single caliper brakes, and rally tires, as well as a sequential gearbox.
