Chip tuning expert Superchips announced a new ECU kit for Ford’s 1.6 liter Ecoboost turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This package will cover a whole range of cars, including the Focus, Galaxy, C-Max, Grand C-Max, Mondeo and S-Max, and offers three stages of upgrade with 150PS (148bhp,) 160PS (158 bhp) and 182PS (178bhp).
The 1.6 Ecoboost engine comes in different versions for different Ford models. So depending on the model, you get a different gain in power using this kit. As always, this ECU remap can be done in a matter of minutes using Superchips’ Bluefin ‘Plug-in and Go’ handset.
As for the price, the kit can be obtained for £445, which is no money at all considering what you get. The increase in horsepower comes with no mechanical change, and no real change in fuel consumption either. But you will be enjoying sharper acceleration and more pulling power.
Here’s details of the Superchips’ Ecoboost package:
i) 150PS 1.6-litre Ford Ecoboost C-Max, Grand C-Max and Focus models
Superchips’ Bluefin gains 30bhp @ 5341rpm and 51Nm @ 1923rpm
ii) 160PS 1.6-litre Ford Ecoboost Galaxy, S-Max and Mondeo models
