As we reported earlier, Toyota entered four GT86 and one Lexus LFA into this year’s Nurburgring 24 hours race. they had a great weekend as it turned out, snatching class victory for both the LFA in SP8 class, a GT86 in SP3 class and another GT86 in the V3 class. The latter is the most significant as the car sin this class are all close to production.
This victory is the best thing that could happen to Toyota GT86, as the production is well underway and it’s getting ready to take the European market by storm. European sports car enthusiasts are all obsessed with track performance and Nurburgring particularly, so it’s a huge plus for the GT86.
Of the other two GT86s, one of them finished third in its class, while the second V3 car had to retire after only 11 laps, which was a pity.
Oh and Lexus is also celebrating, taking 1st place in the high-performance SP8 class. After surviving a few minor incidents, and posting a quickest lap time of 8:44.636, the GAZOO Racing Lexus LFA ran reliably and consistently throughout the race, and 15th place in the overall standings.
