BMW of North America released pricing details of the new face-lifted 7-Series family including the 740i and Li, 750Li, the Activehybrid 7, and the Alpina B7. There’s something for everyone. The new 7er features slightly revised looks with new LEDs lights and modified BMW kidney grille with nine slats, as well as an upgraded interior a newly redesigned iDrive system and an optional Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Engine line-up ranges from a BMW TwinPower Turbo diesel unit that holds the title of the world’s most powerful straight-six diesel engine to the second-generation BMW ActiveHybrid 7. The hybrid version is quite interesting, as it comes with a new TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line petrol engine with a 40 kW/55 hp electric motor. Eight-speed automatic transmission is fitted as standard.
Sadly, Americans won’t get the 760i with its 12-cylinder powerplant. But they do get the Alpina B7 with a turbocharged V8.
The 2013 version of the flagship saloon also drives better thanks to the revisions made to the chassis, including employment of modified rubber bearings and new dampers, and the self-levelling air suspension for the rear axle, as well as the Electric Power Steering.
