Mercedes Benz released pricing details of the new GL-Class for the European market, and they’re quite scary. If we cut straight to the chase, the new-look GL costs –  In Germany after VAT and stuff – €72,471 for the six-cylinder diesel version. The diesel BluTEC has 258 horsepower and averages 7.4 liters per 100 km, which is great for a full-size SUV like this. There is also a V8 petrol engine available.

The GL 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY produces (435 hp) and has torque levels of 700 Nm, so it offers much better performance than the diesel. But then it also drinks a lot, averaging 11.3 liter/100km. The V8 will cost you €94,605. But if you are mad and want something even more powerful and even more expensive, Mercedes also offers a GL63 AMG with a 557 horsepower biturbo V8. This top of the line GL will set you back €130,305.

If those figures spooked you a little, check out this cool promo film they have made for the car. The new GL is so awesome it makes a wild car chase feel like a joyride. We don’t know about that, but it does look pretty good:
