Jeep announced two new special edition versions of the 2013 Grand Cherokee SRT8, called Alpine and Vapor. After the hit this car took from failing a moose test – even though it redeemed itself later on – Jeep needed something to stop people thinking about that every time Cherokee’s name comes up. These cool versions can definitely grab some attention.
The new special editions improve the high-performance SUV’s visual appeal and upgrade its equipments level. The Alpine version comes in bright white and the Vapor in Brilliant black. Both models feature unique exterior details such as Jeep hood badge,Grand Cherokee door badge, and front grille surround and inserts as well as rear light bar and step pad and Black Vapor Chrome finish on split 5-spoke 20-inch wheels.
Inside, SRT-styled Nappa leather and suede seats, with sculpted bolsters and adjustable headrests, leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, and new carbon fiber trims are among the exclusive features. Also standard for 2013 are premium leather door trim panels, instrument panel and center console along with a power liftgate.
These models get no performance upgrade, but that’s OK because the standard SRT8 Cherokee is potent enough with a 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 that delivers 470 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. Performance-wise it does 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds; quarter mile in mid-13 second range; top speed of 160 mph; 60-0 mph braking in 116 feet. Fantastic figures for a car of this type.
