Pit crew get hurt all the time. The nature of their job, which is running around racing cars with impatient drivers at the wheel trying to get back on the track ASAP, makes incidents inevitable. This particular incident, however, was a bit weird – and judging by the footage after the jump, terribly painful for the guys involved.
It happened at DTM’ Zandvoort practice session at a Mercedes pit box. When he was leaving the pit, driver Ralf Schumacher ran close to one of the adjacent air lines. His car’s rear wing then hook up on the air line, and that flipped four of the pit crew, quite badly.
All four were hospitalized after the accident, but three have been released since. One however has remained under observation.
