Save the Hennessey Venom GT, this is the baddest, most insane car John Hennessey and crew have ever built. The VR1200 Twin Turbo Coupe is based on a Cadillac CTS-V Coupe, it’s limited to only 12 units, and it has an almost unbelievable power output of 1,226 bhp and 1,109 lb-ft torque. How this car can even handle that much power?
To make this car Hennessey begins with a normal 7.0 liter V8 engine, and throws almost all of it away. The engine gets new pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, cylinderheads, camshafts, injectors,… you name it. This isn’t a GM engine anymore, it’s Hennessey’s. The performance figures are astonishing: 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds, top speed 242 mph, and quarter mile in 10.2 @ 141 mph.
To cope with that massive power, the VR1200 gets a carbon aero kit with front splitter, rear diffuser, vented hood, and fender flares, Hennessey 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires (345 section rear), carbon ceramic Brembo brakes, tuned gearbox and suspension with revised Magnetic system.
Hennessey is so confident of his creation, he released a video of it on the dyno:
