Before Car&Driver test the new 2013 S6, Audi themselves had no idea how fast the car is from 0 to 60 mph (100 km/h). In their official press release Audi said it takes 4.8 seconds, but C&D, amazingly and surprisingly, arrived at 3.7 seconds. Now that Audi knows about it, they are going to milk it for all it’s worth, beginning with this commercial. It’s even titled 3.7 seconds!
To be honest we’re still a bit staggered how the hell this car could do 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds. It’s got a twin-turbo V8 with 309 kW (420 hp) and peak torque of 550 Nm (405.66 lb-ft). And while that is good power, the S6 is a pretty hefty sedan. What’s more, it does all that while being fairly economical. Average fuel consumption is just 9.7 liters per 100 km (24.25 US mpg) in the Audi S6 and 9.8 liters (24.0 US mpg) in the Audi S6 Avant, well below that of the competition. It’s astonishing.
