Traveling from America to Europe to pick up your new car from the factory makes sense if the car in question is a bespoke Ferrari, or a Pagani. But for a BMW? It sounds daft. Mind you, it’s not that daft when the car you are going to pick up is your customized F10 M5. And it is not daft at all when your host is paying for it.
So earlier this month 24 U.S. customers went to Germany – BMW arranged for them to be there, of course – and received the keys to their cars in a special ceremony. Here’s a video highlighting the event. You also get to see the M5 Police car in this footage.
And as a quick recap, the new BMW M5 F10 features a 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 engine that develops 560 horsepower – 50 more than the old V10 model – while returning about 30 mpg on the highway. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in just over 4 seconds, and if you remove the 155 mph speed limiter, it will hit 200 mph.
