One thing that sets Mercedes Benz and its performance arm AMG apart from the likes of BMW M or Audi RS, is that they are not really bothered about stuff like Nurburgring and lap times and the whole race-car-for-the-street malarkey when they are making a fast car. What they care about is fun. They deliberately make their cars a bit lairy, so when the driver gets it into a slide and saves it, he feels like a superhero.
This is best shown in this demo video for Mercedes-Benz Driving Events 2012. It all looks like awesome fun:
In these courses they don’t teach you how to go around a corner 0.0001 of a second faster than the next guy. But they to teach you how to drift, how to make donuts, and basically, how to have a fine time with your AMG Merc. Love it!
