We all thought Bugatti would wrap it up with 1,200 horsepower. But we may have been wrong. There are rumors – fairly strong ones – flying around that at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show Bugatti will unveil a more powerful version of the Veyron… SuperSport with 1,600 horsepower.
Bugatti, apparently, is going to stretch the capabilities of their Veyron even further by using more carbon fiber, reducing as much weight as possible, and adding more power. To get more juice out of that W16 engine they might even have to increase the capacity of the engine to 9.6 liters, and maybe beef up the turbochargers a bit.
The thing is, Bugatti used to tell us that making the Veyron was just a technical exercise, and that they lost a big pile of money on each one they made. That must have been a lie, because they kept making it, and, by the looks of things, they are going to keep making it forever. And each time they come up with more power.
If they eventually get around making the 1,600 hp SuperVeyron, it’ll be able to go from 0 to 100 km/h in a mind-boggling 1.8 seconds, and reach a top speed of around 463 km/h. This way Bugatti will also be safe from the threat of SSC Tuatara.
The 1,600 Bugatti Veyron is estimated to cost $2.5 million USD.
I don’t know. The SSC Tuatara does only have a v8 compared to the Super Veyrons w16. If SSC revamped production of the taurtara, they are fully capable of making a faster car.
